Spring Into Style! Top Fashion Trends

With every change of season, I contemplate adding a few pieces to my wardrobe to stay on trend, but what are the trends?  What’s appropriate for the 40 plus age range?  Well, we went straight to an expert, a 20-year fashion veteran, to find out. Meet Rebecca Matthews, personal shopper and merchandiser at Pretty Please, a locally owned Memorial boutique.

Rebecca recommends these looks for Spring:

Embroidery.  On tops, pants, and accessories, even shoes!

Look for Pink! It is everywhere and in every shade! From blush to fuchsia – find your shade and flaunt it!  Let’s Grow, Girl! is loving this trend for obvious reasons – check out the banner page on our blog at www.letsgrowgirl.com to see why!

Summer stripes.   Every color going every which way, but watch out for stripes that are too big and go horizontal over your biggest section. They can make you look wide.  The stripes on this dress are small and light in color.

Wide leg pants.  They come long and short and in every type of fabric.  Flowy is good, baggy and dumpy is not!  This look needs to have some form at the top around the waist. They also need to be the right length.  If they are too long – that can make you look dumpy too.  Decide what shoes you will wear with them and have them hemmed accordingly.

Zara Wide Leg Linen Pant

Statement florals.  This look can only be worn by a certain few, usually tall women or those with a big personality can pull this off.   Larger prints are too big for shorter gals – the print will wear them!  Pick one piece and not both for more wear ability.

Acrylic jewelry.  The biggest trend in jewelry right now is acrylic, also known as tortoiseshell or resin.

Acrylic Earrings

Any age or size can wear these trends – just keep the style appropriate – length not too short, fit not too tight and neckline not too low.  Many of these looks can be found top to toe. If you want to add just a touch of the trend without spending too much money, choose an accessory such as a scarf, piece of jewelry or a fun handbag.

Everything pictured above can be found at Pretty Please with the exception of the Zara wide leg pant. Do you need some in-store assistance or personal shopping?  See Rebecca Matthews at Pretty Please located at 8791 Katy Freeway 713-468-0933 or email her for a personal appointment at rebecca@rebeccamatthews.com
