The best advice I can give? Arrive hungry. Tickets are now available for the Austin Food + Wine Festival, taking place at Auditorium Shores (see map below) April 26-27, 2019. If endless wine, beer, spirits, gourmet bites, and BBQ with over 50 celebrated local and national chefs, accompanied by live music and cooking demonstrations with the Austin skyline as your backdrop are your kind of thing, this event is for you. While the Aspen Classic is bigger and flashier, the Austin version is just up the road with plenty to interest the casual or serious foodophile.
More than 50 chefs are on hand to feed and entertain you including the following. Andrew Zimmern, TV personality chef and writer. Nancy Silverton chef and co-owner of several California restaurants and honored by the James Beard Foundation as Outstanding Chef in 2014. Aaron Sanchez, celebrity chef and judge on Food Network’s Chopped. Antonia Lofaso executive chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and TV personality. Jonathan Waxman, TV personality, author, and chef. Tim Love, Dallas chef known for urban western cuisine and owner of Lonesome Dove Western Bistro. Tiffani Faison chef and owner of several Boston restaurants and runner-up on Top Chef Season One. James Beard award winner Chris Shepherd, executive chef and owner of Houston’s UB Preserv, One/Fifth, and Georgia James.

Tips & Tricks:
The queue to enter the event in the mornings wraps around the park. Arrive early to avoid a long wait.
Parking is at Auditorium Shores. In past years, we have opted to rent a house in town and bike to the festival. Bike racks are provided.
Take a small foldable backpack for freebies.
Water is provided but the weather is typically hot and humid. Drink plenty, dress accordingly and be prepared for a bathroom queue.
Stay until the event’s end on Sunday. In past years, the DJ, with an assist from Tim Love and a bottle of tequila, turn the main event tent into a dance party.
