As a 49 year old of Irish descent, the hunt for a tan has been a lifelong goal. I was never a fan of laying out, tanning beds or salon spray tans and now that I am older and know the dangers of the sun exposure and the chemicals, those options are out anyway. I have the added insult of having acquired brown spots that attest to my youth growing up in Tucson, Arizona in an age where baby oil was your sunscreen unless you were a wimp. Ahhh, the whimsy of youth! All that mattered was that deep base tan and it’s all coming back to haunt me now.
My dermatologist is now regularly burning off pre-cancerous skin and the potential of real melanoma looms so my days of sun worshipping are totally over.Having tried about a million products ranging from top dollar to pharmacy brands I am happy to say I have finally settled on the magic combination and I want to share that with all of you. The trick is to keep your skin exfoliated (see previous post on body brushing) and start regularly using Neutrogena Micro-Mist after showering and drying off every couple days. In between, moisturize with Jergens Natural Glow moisturizer. My incredibly sensitive skin isn’t irritated by these products, and my brown spots don’t get worse,` unlike what happens when I use other self tanners.
The tan is gradual, natural looking and doesn’t streak. The price point is also great. The Neutrogena Micro Mist is about nine bucks and Jergens Natural Glow runs about $8.50 at pharmacies. Now go out and get your glow on!
